Community Service-Tailoring Certificate Course: Innovation Club 2022

The Innovation Club started Tailoring Certificate course for the parents and outside ladies from 5th January 2022 onwards. There is no age bar to join this course. Even the senior citizen showed interest in learning tailoring. The course duration is two months. The classes are held at the Besant Skill Development Centre. 13 of them registered their names for this course.
Mr. Joseph is the trainer. Trainer demonstrated the various parts of the sewing machine, explained the purpose and benefits of learning tailoring.
The objective of the course is to make the women empowered with self-employment.
Mrs. Ranjini-Convener of Innovation Club and Mrs. Naseera-member of this club are the course coordinators. Pooja Naik of III BA is a student secretary.

Poster making competition on the topic “Healthy Eating Plate”: Dept. of PG studies in FSN - 2021

The department of P.G Studies in Food Science and Nutrition, Besant Women’s College had organised poster making competition on the topic “Healthy Eating Plate” on 22nd December 2021 in the college campus for the students of all streams from 12.30 p.m. to 2p.m. The competition was conducted to enlighten the students about the importance of healthy eating and help them to showcase their creativity. The invite was sent to all the departments of the college. The program was co-ordinated by Ms. Firhath M.A and Ms. Neeriksha V. A total of 16 teams of three students each participated in the competition. Mrs. Gayathree K of Home Science department and Ms. Maya Kuduva of Food Nutrition and Dietetics department were the internal judges and Mrs. Jayashree Sharma, Member of Karavali Chithrakala Chavadi (R) was an external judge for this competition. The evaluation of the posters were done on the following aspects
Relevance to the topic:
-Creativity
-Neatness 
-Presentation 
The results were announced and of the 16 teams, three teams won 1st, 2nd and 3rd position and two teams won consolation prizes

Recruitment by Ved Trust: Placement Cell 2021

The Placement Cell of Besant Women’s College conducted a recruitment by Ved Trust for the students of Final year – B.Com, B.Sc, BBA and BA by Mr.Yashas, Coorindator, Ved academy in Room No. F10 and F11 on 21st  December, 2021at 3.30pm. Around 200 students from various streams participated. 
Objectives
-Intelligence test was conducted to measure the analytical skills
-Scholarships will be provided on the basis of performance
-Some percentage of fees will be reimbursed 
The coordinator spoke about the internship training for few months and then of providing jobs to the students. The Intelligence test provided the students a sense of judging and analysing.
Outcome:
-Learnt how to answer an MCQ test
-Judgemental skills 
-Focus on the questions and find the right one

'Sasya Sanjeevini':Medicinal plant exhibition cum competition: Youth Red Cross 2021

Red cross unit has organized 'Sasya Sanjeevini' a medicinal plant exhibition cum competition, conducted on 18th December, 2021. Prof. Hemalatha, Dean of Arts and HoD of Dept. of Secretarial Practice inaugurated the exhibition. Students  collected 42 different types of plants and explained the medicinal use of the plants to the judges and the  the visitors. The inaugurator and the visitors gave a good feedback about the exhibition.

Beautician Course: EDP Cell 2021

Entrepreneurship Development Cell carried out the beautician training programme for students on 18th December, 2021. They were taught the different hair style.
