“INNOVARIOUS 2018”, a Symposium on ‘Evolving Trends in Intellectual Property Rights’

The Departmentof P.G. Studies in Commerce, in association with IQAC organised “INNOVARIOUS 2018”, a Symposium on ‘Evolving Trends in Intellectual PropertyRights’ on 6th April 2018.The symposium highlighted how the Intellectual Property system supportscreativity and innovation among youth in their quest to bring amazingcommercial ideas to facilitate entrepreneurial activities. It also provided anopportunity for Undergraduate and Post-Graduate students to participate in thedeliberations through paper presentations.Innovarious_ (1).jpg

The Programme was inaugurated bythe Chief Guest, Prof. Subrahmanya Yadipadithaya, Professor, Department ofCommerce, Mangalore University (Former Registrar, Mangalore University). He statedthat IP is protected in law (for example, patents, copyright and trademarks)which will enable people to earn recognition or financial benefit from whatthey invent or create.

Guest of honors were Mrs. AshaNayak, Senior Advocate, Mangaluru and Rtn.Vinod D’Souza, Chairman, RotaractClub, Mangalore. The programme was presided by Sri. Kudpi Jagdish Shenoy,President of W.N.E.S.

Inaugural Programme was followed bytechnical session on ‘IPR in India and Abroad’ by Mr. Rajesh T.V., CentralExcise Officer. The second technical session was on the topic ‘Current Scenarioof IPR and status of India in terms of Innovation and filing of IPR’ by Mr.Santhosh Prabhu, Faculty, SDM Law College.

After the technical sessions,delegates presented the papers on different themes on Evolving Trends in IPR.The chairperson Mr. Santhosh Prabhu moderated 14 papers presentations.

Valedictory Programme was held at4.30 pm. Rtn. Vasanth Shenoy was the Chief Guest of the Programme.  While addressing the gathering he highlightedthe role of IPR in the context of economic growth.

 Sri. Satish Kumar Bhat, Correspondent ofBesant English Medium School also graced the occasion. Certificates and awardswere distributed. Ms. MonishaShetty and Mrs.Supriya Bhat of Ist M.Com, Dr.P.DayanandaPai – P.Sathish.PaiGovernment first grade college, Mangalore and Miss  Anusha Prabhu and Nishitha of 1st M.Com,Dept of PG Studies, Besant Women’s College were awarded as the Best PaperPresenters.
