Cancer Awareness Programme: National Service Scheme

A Description of the Activity: The NSS Unit organized a Cancer Awareness Programme in association with Mangalore Institute of Oncology (MIO), Mangaluru, on 07/03/2024. Dr. Mulla and Dr. Venkataramana Kini, Radiation Oncologists from MIO, Mangaluru, served as the resource persons. They created awareness among the students about the causes, risk factors, prevention, early detection, and treatment of cancer.

Objectives of the Programme:

  1. To create awareness among students about cancer and its risk factors.
  2. To educate students about the importance of early detection and timely treatment of cancer.
  3. To promote healthy lifestyle practices for the prevention of cancer.
  4. To dispel misconceptions and encourage students to spread cancer awareness in the community.

Outcome of the Programme:

  1. Students gained valuable knowledge about the causes, symptoms, prevention, and treatment of cancer.
  2. The programme increased awareness about the importance of early detection and regular health check-ups.
  3. Students were motivated to adopt healthy lifestyle practices and spread awareness about cancer prevention in the community.
