Talk on Limelight to Research: Dept. of MSc (FSN)

The department of PG studies in Food Science and Nutrition (FSN) had organized a talk pertaining to research on the topic “Limelight to research” for both UG and PG students of science stream which included Department of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics, Department of Home Science, Department of General Science and Department of PG studies in Food Science and Nutrition.

The talk was organized on 10th of March, 2022 at 2.00pm in the M.com Auditorium. The resource person for the talk was Dr. Adarsh Gowda, Head and Assistant Professor Department of Food Science, St. Aloysius College, Mangalore. The program was started through prayer by the students of the hosting department followed by the introduction of the chief guest by the principal. The program was concluded by vote of thanks which by Mrs. Indira Badya, HOD, Department of PG Studies in Food Science and Nutrition. The MC for the program was Ms. Namitha of 2nd M.Sc FSN.

The talk mainly focused on major aspects of research methodology. Dr. Adarsh Gowda gave a brief idea on the difference between thesis and dissertation. He educated the students on various components of thesis writing which included on how to write an introduction, what is review of literature and research methodology to be opted. Dr. Adarsh Gowda explained the role of food scientist and stressed on the empowerment of entrepreneurship to the students. He explained on the components of product development through his own research article on Development of fluorophore labelled anti-aflatoxin antibodies coated SPOINs for detection of aflatoxin B1. He stressed on the importance of publishing research work in genuine sites. Dr. Adarsh Gowda motivated the students to take up research and active part in enhancing their entrepreneur skills. On the whole the talk was a brainstorming session for the students.
