Guest lecture on ‘Career Blueprint’: Career Guidance Cell

The Career Guidance Cell of Besant Women’s College in collaboration with Lions Club, Nethravathi, Mangalore organized a guest lecture on ‘Career Blueprint’ for the final year students on 15th Dec 2023. Around 70 students attended this programme. Resource person of the programme is Ms. Divya Shekar Anchan, Assistance Professor, Arts, Commerce and Business Administration, Yenepoya College, Mangalore.

Objectives:

The primary objective of Career Guidance programme on Career Blueprint is to assist individuals in making informed and fulfilling career choices by providing support in self-assessment, exploration of career options, and development of necessary skills and strategies for achieving professional goals.

Ms. Divya Shekar Anchan emphasized studying B. Com, BBA, B.Sc., or BA provides a foundation for various career paths. The target includes acquiring a comprehensive understanding of business, finance, science, or arts respectively, developing critical thinking and analytical skills, and preparing for diverse roles in fields such as commerce, business, science, or humanities. These degrees serve as stepping stones for entry into specific industries, further education, or entrepreneurial pursuits.

She also emphasized the use of LinkedIn app, which provides job opportunities abound across various industries and professions. Users can explore openings in fields like technology, marketing, finance, healthcare, and more. Features such as job postings, company pages, and networking capabilities make it a valuable platform for connecting with recruiters, exploring career paths, and staying updated on industry trends. Users can leverage the app to apply for jobs, receive personalized job recommendations, and build a professional network to enhance their career prospects.

She also highlighted the concept of entrepreneurship. Becoming an entrepreneur presents the opportunities to create and grow their own business. It involved taking initiative, managing risks, and turning innovative ideas into reality. Key aspects include identifying market needs, developing a business plan, securing funding and navigating the challenges of running a business.
