Descriptions of the Activity

The NSS Unit of the college organised a Cancer Awareness Programme at the adopted village, Abbettu, on 20/10/2024. The programme was conducted with the aim of creating awareness among the villagers about cancer and its prevention. Dr. Deena Manju Shetty, the resource person, educated the villagers about breast cancer. She explained the common signs and symptoms of breast cancer and highlighted the importance of early detection. The villagers were also encouraged to undergo regular health check-ups and seek medical advice whenever necessary. The programme helped the participants gain valuable knowledge about breast cancer and the importance of maintaining good health.

Objective

  • To create awareness among the residents of the adopted village about the causes, risk factors, early warning signs, prevention, and importance of early detection and timely treatment of cancer.
  • To educate the community about the importance of early detection and regular health check-ups.
  • To encourage healthy practices and timely medical consultation.

Outcome

  • The programme enhanced the villagers’ knowledge about cancer prevention and early detection.
  • Participants became more aware of healthy lifestyle practices, warning signs, and the importance of regular screening and timely medical consultation.
