11th JANUARY TO 14th JANUARY 2020-YOUTH RED CROSS ANNUAL SPECIAL CAMP

INAGURATION

On 11th January 2020 for the first time in the history of Besant, Youth Red Cross Annual Special Camp was conducted at Besant English School, Mangaluru.30 students attended the camp. It was started with inaugural function. Rtn. PHF. CA Shantharam Shetty, Chairman of IRCS Dakshina Kannada District inaugurated the programme by lightning the lamp and flowering the portrait of Henry Dunant. Chief Guest Mrs. Shanti Lobo, Headmistress, Besant English Medium School well wished the students for the camp. It was presided over by Shri K Devanand Pai, Secretary of WNES, Correspondent of Besant Women’s College and Dr Sathish Kumar Shetty P, Principal of Besant Women’s College. The camp convenor Ashwin Kumar and students Youth Red Cross Secretary Ms.M.Manila were present. Professor Deekshitha T S Programme Officer welcomed the gathering. Ms. Suprajalakshmi member of Youth Red Cross proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Ms. Shilpa of 2nd B.Com.

DAY 1 – 11th JANUARY 2020

SESSION 1- ICE BREAK SESSION – Mr. ASHWIN KUMAR

Camp convenor Ashwin Kumar divided the students into 5 groups and explained the basic rules at the camp to be followed by the students.

SESSION 2-FIRST AID -Mr. ASHWIN KUMAR

First aid for wounds, leg and hand fracture, CPR for heart attack, snake bite, choking was practically explained.

SESSION 3- DISASTER AND FIRE MANAGEMENT IN HOUSE AND COLLEGE WITH FIRE SAFETY EXERCISE – Mr.Ashwin Kumar

Disaster can be man-made or natural. In this session students learnt how to rescue their self and others from the fire disaster around them with fire safety exercise, being a Red Cross volunteer.

At the end of the day it was followed by the cultural activities by the students and review of the day.

DAY 2 – 12TH AUGUST 2020

SESSION 4 – MUSTERING, PRAYER AND FITNESS EXERCISE – Mr. ANKITH KUMAR

Exercise not only makes physically fit but also it improves the mental and general sense of well-being. Mr.Ankith Kumar from Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management ,taught aerobics and dance therapy to be fit and healthy.

SESSION 5 – HISTORY AND ORIGIN OF RED CROSS MOVEMENT-Mr. ASHWIN KUMAR

In this session history and importance of Red Cross, role and activities of Red Cross volunteers was explained briefly by Ashwin Kumar.

SESSION 6 – CIVIC RESPONSIBILITIES – Mr.SHRINIVASAN NANDAGOPAL

Shrinivasan Nandagopal described about being an active member of the community is both a personal and civic responsibility. It is what we do in order to live and work in society and responsibility of the people towards the society.

SESSION 7 – BUILDING STABLE PERSONALITY FOR THEYOUTH – Dr.Aruradha Kurunji

Dr.Aruradha Kurunji explained why the stable personality is very important for the youth and how it determines the person’s strengths and weakness to the society.

SESSION 8 – DEVELOPING PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS – Mr.Chandrashekar

Mr. Chandrashekar asked students to present the inaugural function of the college day to check the public speaking of the students. Afterwards he explained what are the improvement required within the students for developing skills, body language do’s and don’ts of the public speaking.

DAY 3- 13th JANUARY 2020

EVENT 9 – CLEANING THE PREMISES

The students cleaned the premises of Besant English School by removing unwanted plants and picking the plastics.

SESSION 10 – TREKKING

On the 3rd day of the camp the students were taken to Belthangadi we enquired the village people about their lifestyle and the problems faced during rainy season. Later we were taken to Didupe falls for trekking. In this trekking we learnt about the medical plant uses for the treatment of the diseases.

DAY 4 – 14th JANUARY 2020

SESSION 11- HANDWRITING SESSION – Mr. DINESH HOLLA

In this session Dinesh Holla taught how we can improve our handwriting and also to write our names in a given circle neatly. Even shown some videos related to the natures disaster and explained how we destroyed it.

SESSION 12 – HANDLING THE PHYSIOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATION IN THE PRIME YOUTH AGE- PROFESSOR. SHWETHA K T

Professor. Shwetha K T said that in the youth age several changes take place, one is physiological transformation depends on their life style problems in their life and so on. Even she also answered the questions asked by the students and clarified their doubts.

“LIFE DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE WITHOUT INDEPENDENCE.WE NEED EACH OTHER AND THE SOONER WE LEARN THAT BETTER FOR US ALL”. – ERIK ERIKSON

VALEDICTORY - YOUTH RED CROSS ANNUAL SPECIAL CAMP

On 14th January 2020 valedictory function was organised for the Youth Red Cross Annual Special Camp at Besant English School Auditorium. The Chief Guest was Professor Sacheth Suvarna, President Youth Red Cross Dakshina Kannada District, wished the students every success in their endeavours in life. It was presided over by Sri Annappa Nayak and Arjun Nayak members of WNES, Correspondent of Besant Women’s College, Dr. Sathish Kumar Shetty P, Principal of Besant Women’s College. Mrs.Shanthi Lobo, Headmistress of Besant English Medium School were present on this occasion. certificates were distributed to the students by the guest and collected feedbacks of the camp. Ms. Suprajalakshmi Assistant Professor from the department of Food Nutrition and Dietetics welcomed the guests and Professor Deekshitha T S Programme Officer of Youth Red Cross proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Ms Harshitha of 2nd B.Com.
