Industrial Visit for 25 students: Department of P G Studies in Commerce (MCom)

The Department of P G Studies in Commerce conducted an Industrial Visit for 25 students accompanied by 4 faculty members on 27/6/2022.

  1. The Naturals Bonda factory – There were several processes like cutting bonda, separating water and cream. The tender coconut water is then sold at a very low price. The grounded cream is further boiled in sugar syrup and packed in treta packs to be sent to Natural Ice cream Manufacturing unit. In addition to tender coconut they also process litchi and other seasonal fruits like jackfruits which will be sent to ice cream manufacturing unit.
  2. Ace Foods Ltd - Modern Kitchen at Ganjimutt – The different processes including washing, peeling, slicing the potato/raw banana, deep frying, air drying, flavouring and packaging were done in automatic machines. Products are exported under the brand name Anand to US and with the brand name Modern Kitchen to Austrilia and domestic market.
  3. Soans Farm at moodabidri – Exotic fruits like Nutmeg, Vanilla, Mace Rambhutan, Mangosteen, star fruit, Barbados cherry, Durian, Surinam cherry, Fashion fruit, Rangoon cherry, Mulberry, breadfruit are grown in the farm consisting of 40 acres of land. Processed pure juice of fruits are also available.

The industrial visit was concluded by visiting Thousand pillars temple (Savira Kambada Basadi). It is a Jain temple at Moodabidri built in around 1430 AD in Nepali Style and has 600 years old history.
