Description of the Activity:
The NSS Unit organized a Blood Stem Cell Donation Programme in association with DKMST, Bengaluru, on 30/08/2024. A total of 75 volunteers, including faculty members, registered themselves as blood stem cell donors. Mr. Rohith Rajiv served as the resource person and provided information about the importance of stem cell donation and the registration process.
Objectives of the Programme:
- To create awareness among students and the public about the importance of voluntary blood donation.
- Encourage a spirit of social responsibility and make cautious efforts to meet the demand for safe blood in hospitals.
- To educate participants about the importance of stem cell donation in saving the lives of patients suffering from blood disorders.
- To encourage students and faculty members to register as potential blood stem cell donors.
- To promote the spirit of voluntary service and social responsibility among students.
Outcome of the Programme:
- The programme created awareness about the importance and need for blood stem cell donation.
- The blood donation camp encouraged students and community members to participate in voluntary blood donation and created awareness about the importance of donating blood.
- The programme fostered a sense of social responsibility, compassion, and community service among NSS volunteers and participants
- Participants gained knowledge about the stem cell donation process and its role in saving lives.
- The programme encouraged students to actively participate in humanitarian and community-oriented activities.
