Terrabyte-The Digital Hub Inauguration
August 18, 2017 was a Golden lettered Day in the History of Department of Computer Science for it was the day when the “Terrabyte – The Digital Hub” was inaugurated.
The Chief Guest was Sri Sathish Kumar Shetty P., Principal, Besant Women’s College, Mangaluru and the Guest of Honour was Sri Devanand Pai K., Correspondent, Besant Women’s College, Mangaluru
Terrabyte – The Digital Hub is a unique Computer Club to showcase the activities of the students and faculty related to Information Technology.
As a part of the Inauguration, the department website – Terrabyte activities was launched.
The purpose of the web is to stimulate innovative ideas for the students to improve their personality and learn beyond the boundaries of the class room. We invite articles / Research Publications / other relevant publications from the faculty related to Information Technology (IT). We will be happy to upload them onto our site.
The students will get plenty of opportunities to upgrade their technological skills.
The Principal Dr.Sathish Kumar Shetty P. in his inaugural speech emphasised on the club being active through the year. He also said “ the departments of B.Sc to look into the emerging trends of Computer Science. You can arrange seminars / workshops / Guest lectures on wide topics like Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, Bayesian Methods, Digital Forensics, Machine Learning and Data-Mining, Network Analysis, Interactive 3D Graphics, Econometrics, and Spatiotemporal Modelling to name a few through the newly inaugurated Club of your department – Terrabyte – The Computer Hub. Several of these areas provide opportunities for collaboration with scientists from other fields, making the department a well-integrated centre of multidisciplinary research. “
Correspondent, Shri Devanand Pai Congratulated the team of “Terrabyte the Digital Club” and said that such activities enthused a new interest among the students.
Ms Sahana of III B.Sc. was chosen as the Club Secretary for the year 2017-18
The Prayer on behalf of the gathering was offered by Ms. Meghna.The welcome Speech was delivered by Mr. Ravinder Murthy and the vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Amra of II B.Sc.
Mr. Gopalkrishna A. Raikar, HoD –Computer Science, in his elaborative speech highlighted the activities of the terabyte – the digital hub and its web Site.
Prof. Hemalatha, HoD - Secretarial Practice, Ms. Vidya Bhat, Lecturer - SP, Dr.Meenakshi, HoD, Kannada, Mr. Praveen Kamath, HoD - Mathematics, Ms. Divya B, HoD, Statistics, Ms. SavithriRao, HoD-DataProcessing, Dr.Parashuram G. M were among the other invitees present on the occasion.
Many Students of B.Com and BA (SP) showed keen interest in attending the Inauguration Programme.
