Report on Training Programme in Soft Skills and Tally GST - Department of Commerce and Business Administration
The Department of Commerce and Business Administration organized a comprehensive Training Programme on Soft Skills and Tally GST on 15th January. This course will extend upto 5th May, 2026, with the objective of enhancing students’ employability skills and preparing them for industry requirements. The programme aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application by integrating communication skills with technical accounting knowledge.
The training programme was conducted by a team of dedicated and experienced faculty members, including Mrs. Vidya Bhat, Mrs. Nayana, Mrs. Latha, Dr. Shaila, Mrs. Devika, and Mrs. Raksha Shenoy. Their expertise and structured approach ensured effective delivery of both conceptual understanding and practical exposure.
The programme was coordinated by Ntendra from AISTECH in collaboration with Standard Chartered Bank, which added industry relevance and professional value to the sessions.
The training programme comprised two major components—Soft Skills Training and Tally GST Training:
- Soft Skills Training:
This module focused on developing essential interpersonal and professional competencies among students. It included:
- Self Introduction: Students were trained to confidently introduce themselves in formal settings, emphasizing clarity, structure, and confidence.
- Interview Skills: Sessions covered interview preparation, commonly asked questions, body language, and mock interviews to enhance performance in real-time situations.
- Communication Skills: Emphasis was placed on verbal and non-verbal communication, presentation skills, and workplace etiquette.
- Personality Development: Activities and discussions were conducted to improve confidence, teamwork, leadership qualities, and overall professional behaviour.
- Tally GST Training:
This module provided hands-on training in accounting and taxation using Tally software. It included:
- Basic Accounting: Introduction to accounting principles, journal entries, ledger posting, and preparation of financial statements.
- Tally Prime Accounting: Practical training in using Tally Prime software for recording business transactions, maintaining accounts, and generating reports.
- Inventory Accounting: Students learned to manage stock, inventory valuation, and tracking of goods within Tally.
- GST Applications: Detailed sessions on Goods and Services Tax, including GST registration, invoicing, and filing procedures using Tally.
Throughout the programme, students actively participated in practical sessions, assignments, and interactive activities. The combination of soft skills and technical training helped them gain confidence, improve communication abilities, and acquire job-oriented accounting skills.
The programme received an enthusiastic response from students, reflecting their keen interest in career-oriented learning. It significantly enhanced their employability readiness, making them better prepared for placement opportunities
