The Department of Secretarial Practice organized one day workshop on the topic "Communication and Team Management: Skills for success", on 23rd April 2026.
The programme commenced with a prayer by Dr. Shaila Kamath, Department of Commerce and Business Administration.
Later, Mrs. Devika, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Business Administration delivered welcome address.
The event was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Praveen Kumar K.C. who highlighted the importance of communication and leadership skills in today’s competitive world.
The first session titled "Speak Smart: Enhancing Communicative English" was handled by Dr. Goutham Jyothsna, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Besant Women's College. The session focussed on improving spoken English, building confidence, and developing effective communication techniques. The resource person engaged students through interactive activities, making the session lively and informative.
The second session "Team Management: Leading with Confidence" was conducted by Mrs. Vidya Bhat, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Business Administration. She emphasized leadership qualities, teamwork,
decision-making, and the importance of confidence in managing teams effectively through conducting games.
During the programme, top scorers in the University examination were honoured with Academic Excellence prizes recognising their hard work and achievements.
The workshop was smoothly compered by Varshi-I BA, who effectively coordinated the sessions.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mrs. Ranjini M, Assistant Professor, HoD, Secretarial Practice expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, resource persons, and participants for making the event a success.
Objectives:
- To enhance students’ communicative English Skills
- To develop confidence in speaking and interpersonal communication
- To provide knowledge on effective team management and leadership
Outcomes:
- Students improved their confidence in speaking English
- Participants gained practical knowledge of communication techniques
