BeQuest-2019 (UDAAN-MEDHASs-INNOVISION)

UGFest Bequest- Udaan & Medhass (depart of Science)and PG Fest Innovision2019, Inter collegiate talents fests were inaugurated today at the  College auditorium.  The theme of the fest was ‘YouthEmpowerment’.

Dr.Kripa Alva, Former Chairperson, Karnataka State Commission for Protection ofChild Rights  was the guest ofhonour.  Inaugurating the two-day festshe said, in a country like Indian youth must unite to design the bright futureof country. The change can be brought about only by the youngsters who thinkdifferently. In many sectors including software field young people areresponsible to bring revolution. Our country must reap the demographicdividends and must not suffer the demographic disaster she opined.  Referring to the unfortunate trend of shootingaccidents etc., in mobile phone and circulating them, she said, anytechnological advancement is useless if human beings stop being humane. Youthmust be empowered to carry forward the high principles of humanity to allliving creatures, she advised.

Anotherguest Sri. Sathish Kumar, Proprietor of S.D. Scientifics speaking on theoccasion said, mere class room learning is not enough for personalitydevelopment of the students but students gatherings in fests like ‘Bequest’essentially bring about healthy competition and socializing.BeQuest2019_ (14).JPG

Sri.K. Devanand Pai, Secretary, WNES, addressing the gathering said, vistas ofopportunities are wide open for today’s youth and they must be utilizing themto groom into socially useful citizen.  KudpiJagadish Shenoy, President of Women’s National Education Society, who presidedover the function in his presidential address  said,  lifeis not a competition but it is a forum to create equity. The people ofdifferent thinking if come together they can establish a very encouragingatmosphere for growth. This year’s Bequest which has an intension of reflectingon regional culture is hoped to boost student’s creativity he added.

Thecollege principal Dr. Sathish Kumar Shetty welcomed the gathering earlier. PGstudent union president Anusha Prabhu introduced. UG student union presidentNisha thanked. Student Archan compeered. Conveners of the programme Prof. MeeraEdna Coelho, Prof. Anupa Baliga and Prof. Gopalakrishna Raiker were on thedais.

Inthe Bequest – Udaan-UG Fest comprisesof events Pathraabhinay, Yuva Mudra, Karas, Varnaananam, Mrithikakaaram,Vastrani Vaichitrya, Prarocana, Zrestha Varttapati, Edam Yuva Vartha.  Medhass-UGFest will have events as Lasya Vijnanam, Vishleshana, Yupyathi, Vivechana,Rasayana Pratitya, Prahelika, Paachana, Samhitha, Ganith and PG Innovision Fest events arePanyaveethika, Samsakti, Agrasamdhani, Nidhi. Hitherto 37colleges have enrolledfor participation.

Besant Women's College, Mangaluru, Hosted on February 14thBesant UG Science Fest Medhass an Inter-Collegiate Science Talent Competitionunder the theme of ‘Youth Empowerment'. Competitions included topics such asPhysics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics and Food, Nutrition, andDietetics from the Departments of Science.

The students of Poornaprajna College, Udupi, bagged the overallaward in the Inter-Collegiate Competition, and St Aloysius College (Autonomous)were declared the runners up.

Sri Manel Annappa Nayak, Vice-President, Women’s NationalEducation Society, was the chief guest at the valedictory function of Medhaas.The Chief Guest said that such fests contributed significantly to the student'sacademic progress. He said the college's reputation with such talent festivalscould be further widened and highlighted.

Shri Belthangady Ganesh Krishna Bhat, member of themanagement, gave away the certificates and prizes.  Secretary of Women’s National EducationSociety and correspondent of Besant Women's College Sri. K. Devanand Pai,Principal, Dr. Satish Kumar Shetty P., Dean of Science and Coordinator,  Sri Gopalkrishna Raikar along with the othersmembers of the Medhass Fest were also present.

Prof. Sanjana Shenoy, HoD of Food Nutrition and Dietetics(FND) announced the list of award winners in various competitions. StudentKumari Rithika compered the program and Kumari Fatima Sahara proposed the voteof thanks.
