Paper Presentation Competition - "SPECTRUM OF IDEAS 2K24" : Department of English
The Department of English at Besant Women's College, Kodialbail, successfully organized the Paper Presentation Competition titled "SPECTRUM OF IDEAS 2K24" on 20th September 2024. The event centered on the topic "The Effect of Social Media on the Mental Health of Youth" and provided a platform for students to showcase their research and share their views.
A total of 11 students from various streams participated, offering a range of perspectives on the topic. Their presentations reflected mixed opinions on the impact of social media on youth mental health, with some highlighting its positive role in fostering connection and self-expression, while others focused on the negative consequences such as addiction, anxiety, and depression.
The event was coordinated by Miss Jincy Thomas, Lecturer in the Department of English, who took the initiative to organize and manage the competition.
The distinguished panel of judges included:
Prof. Ravi Prabha, Head of the Department of Political Science, who served as the Guest of Honour and one of the external judges.
Prof. Preetha Bhandary, Head of the Department of English.
Dr. Gautham Jyostna, Department of English.
Participants were judged on various criteria such as the quality of content, clarity, presentation delivery, time management, and their ability to respond effectively to questions from the judges. Each presentation was followed by a stimulating Q&A session, where students had the opportunity to defend their viewpoints.
The competition was well-received, and the program proceeded smoothly. The results of the competition will be announced on 21st September 2024, with exciting prizes awaiting the winners.
