Talk on “Cyber Security” : R&D Cell and Dept. of Science
Research and Development Celland Departments of Science of Besant Women’s College have organized a talk on“Cyber Security” by Dr. Ananth Prabhu G., Advisor, Vikas Group of Institutions, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Sahyadri Collegeof Engineering and Management and CyberSecurity Trainer, Karnataka Police Academy, on 12th February 2019 in the college auditorium. Dr.Ananth Prabhu G., explained various ways of cyber-crimes with live examples, such as recharge fraud, ATM skimming,online job fraud, phishing, message spoofing, picture morphing, Tik-Tok videos editingapps, calls spoofing, cyber stalking, ransomware, deep fakes, keylogger malware, online dating,online trolling and online games.He also enlightened the students on the different measures such as installation of anti-virus soft wares, protection of the passwords, videos and pictures,not using the tik-tockvideo apps, informedand careful use of online shopping,websites, proper logout from the emails. The chief guest Dr. Sathish Bhat, Correspondent, Besant EnglishMedium School, spoke on transaction theft,identity theft, information theft and waysin which students should be secured from the cyber-crimes.
Guest of honour Dr. SathishKumar Shetty P., Principal of Besant Women’s College reiterated thecyber-crimes examples and alerted the students.
