Objective:

The event aimed to illuminate the shadows of harassment while fostering an atmosphere of equality and mutual respect among students and staff. It sought to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary to build a culture free from harassment.

Program Overview:

The program commenced with a warm welcome by Prof. Hemalatha, Convenor of the PoSH Cell, who set the tone for the event with her insightful introduction to the program’s objectives. Her words acted as a beacon, guiding attendees toward a deeper understanding of the need for equality and safety in society.

The keynote address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Mr. Vinayak, Sub-Inspector of Police, who provided a comprehensive understanding of online safety and cyber harassment.

  2. Blackmailing Incidents: Drawing from real-life cases, he highlighted the grave consequences of sharing personal information online.
  3. Anonymous Calls and Texts: Comparing these calls to sirens luring individuals into danger, he cautioned against engaging with unknown numbers.
  4. Phishing Links and Emails: He detailed how seemingly harmless emails and links act as Trojan horses, leading to identity theft and financial fraud.
  5. Preventive Measures:
  • Fortify social media accounts with privacy settings.
  • Exercise vigilance in online interactions.
  • Adopt two-factor authentication as a digital shield.
  • Report suspicious activities promptly to the authorities.
