The department of Secretarial Practice in association with IQAC organised ‘Mental Health Awareness Campaign’ in collaboration with ‘Mind and Matter (NGO) and the Department of Psychiatric Social Work, NIMHANS.

Dr. Malavika. Psychiatric, NIMHANS and Ms. Niveditha, the volunteer of Mind and Matter (NGO) were the resource persons. The campaign was based on activities strengthening mental health and mind. Self-awareness, Self potential, Critical Thinking, Decision making, Problem solving, Empathy were the main areas covered.

Dr. Praveen Kumar K.C., the Principal presided over the programme. Mrs. Shaila Kamath welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource persons. Mrs. Ranjini, HoD, read out the names of winners in Report Writing competition and prizes were distributed. The students who have contributed their service to the department and excelled in sports were honoured. Ms. Kushi of I BA compered the programme. Ms. Vaishnavi UN of II BA proposed Vote of Thanks.

Objectives:

  • To educate students about mental health, common mental illnesses, and their impact on academic and personal life.
  • To highlight the importance of self-awareness, Self-potential, empathy, decision making, problem solving, critical thinking etc.
  • To teach healthy coping strategies such as stress management, mindfulness, time management and emotional regulation.

Outcomes:

  • Students gain better understanding of mental health, mental illness, and their importance
  • Improved peer-to-peer support and empathy among students
  • Students feel more confident reaching out for help
