A group of 38 students accompanied by staff members Ms. Vidya Bhat and Ms. Nayana undertook an educational industrial visit to Udaya Steel located in the Industrial Area of Manipal on 6th October 2025. The visit was organized as part of our academic curriculum to provide students with practical insights into industrial operations and manufacturing processes.

Objectives of the Visit:

  • To understand the functioning and production process in a steel manufacturing unit.
  • To observe industrial safety practices and equipment handling.
  • To bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Highlights of the Visit:

At Udaya Steel, students were welcomed by the company’s technical staff who gave an informative briefing on the company's background, product range, and operational workflow. The students were then guided through various sections of the plant, including:

  • Raw material handling
  • Melting and casting processes
  • Quality control lab
  • Safety and waste management systems

The visit offered valuable insights into real-time industrial procedures, machine operations, and quality assurance practices. Students actively interacted with the staff, raising queries about the process and applications of the materials produced.

Additional Educational Visits:

In addition to Udaya Steel, the group also visited two significant educational sites in Manipal:

Anatomy Museum, Manipal:
Students explored the vast collection of human anatomy specimens, gaining a deeper understanding of human physiology. It was an enriching experience, particularly for those interested in medical and biological sciences.

Planetarium:
The visit to the planetarium offered an interactive and visual experience about astronomy, celestial bodies, and space science. The show was both engaging and informative, sparking curiosity about space exploration.

The industrial visit to Udaya Steel, along with the tours of the Anatomy Museum and Planetarium, proved to be highly beneficial and educational. It helped students relate academic concepts to real-world applications and enhanced their understanding of different scientific and industrial domains.

The faculty members, Ms. Vidya Bhat and Ms. Nayana, ensured smooth coordination and guided the students throughout the visit, making it a successful learning experience.
