INAUGURATION OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CELL-2018
Research and Development Cell of Besant Women’s College was inaugurated by Dr. Vishanz Pinto,Dean of Faculty of Arts, St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru on Monday 23rdJuly 2018. He expressed that research should be done for civilization anddevelopment of the society. Research in Science and Technology has helpedmankind and made life comfortable. Research in social science helped inunderstanding the human perception, relationship, causes and effects of thecontexts, events and behavior of the people. Social Science researchdemystifies the society. Quoting many instances he articulated how the studentscan undertake research on simple topics such as history of Besant institution to the topic on impact of welfare schemes on the society. Narratinghis own experience on historical research studies and archives on the migrationof catholic people from D.K. District, he opined how critical analysis on thetopic helped him understand the reasons and impact of their migration on thefamily, society and the community.
Sri Davanand Pai, Correspondent of the Institution was theChief Guest. He advised the students to utilize the library resources optimallyleading to their advancement in research endeavours. Guest of honour, and theGoverning council member of WNES Sri Shyam Sundar Kamath called for harnessingstudents’ potential for career advancement and good settlement in life leadingto their well being. Another Guest of honour, Principal, Dr.Sathish Kumar ShettyP elucidated the research process and called for assimilating complete,relevant, unbiased data for critical analysis reflecting on the factualfindings and objectivity. He opined that the documented data shouldbe thoroughly checked in order to unearth the truth and avoid hasty conclusion.Dr. Sudha K. Convenor of the Cell welcomed the gathering and Anjali Vijaystudent secretary compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
