Inauguration of the Students' Council 2024-25

Introduction:

The inauguration of the Students' Council was held on Thursday, 12th September 2024, at 2:00 PM in the College Auditorium. This momentous occasion was graced by distinguished guests, staff members, and students alike, all gathered to witness the dawn of a new chapter in student leadership.

Presiding Dignitaries:

The ceremony was led by Sri Manel Annappa Nayak, President of the Women’s National Education Society (WNES), with CA Hastha Narayan (F.C.A), Founder of Hastha & Co. Chartered Accountants, serving as the Chief Guest. Prof. Rajashekar Hebbar, Administrative Officer of Besant Group of Institutions, graced the event as the Guest of Honour. The principal, Dr. Praveen Kumar K.C., and Ms. Ranjini, Student Welfare Officer, also contributed their invaluable presence.

The Event:

The ceremony commenced with a solemn prayer, setting the tone for the event. The audience was warmly welcomed by the college representatives, and the esteemed Chief Guest, CA Hastha Narayan, was introduced with a floral welcome. Like the symbolic lighting of the lamp, which chases away darkness, the ceremony illuminated the path for the students' council, representing the birth of new ideas and aspirations.

The council cabinet was then introduced to the audience, followed by the oath-taking ceremony. Each member of the council pledged their commitment to leadership, much like captains steering their ships through calm and storm, bound by a common goal — the betterment of their peers and college community.

Best Wishes and Addresses:

Following the oath, words of wisdom and best wishes were shared by various faculty members. The Deans of different departments also extended their heartfelt wishes, including Arts Dean Professor Hemalatha, Language Dean Professor Preetha Bhandary, Commerce Dean Professor Syed Kahder, and Science Dean Professor Gayathri Kumari. Their words served as guiding lights, encouraging the students to approach their responsibilities with wisdom, courage, and determination.

Chief Guest’s Address:

In her speech, CA Hastha Narayan emphasized that leadership is not merely a position of authority but a responsibility to inspire and guide others with integrity and ethical values. She stressed the importance of teamwork and collaboration, encouraging the students to uplift one another in their roles. Leadership, she remarked, is like a beacon, offering guidance and support through challenges. Drawing from her own professional journey, she highlighted how perseverance and determination are key to achieving long-term success. Narayan urged the newly elected council members to balance their pursuit of excellence with a commitment to serving their peers and community, always leading with a strong sense of ethics and honesty.

The Guest of Honour, Prof. Rajashekar Hebbar, spoke on the importance of balancing academics and leadership, emphasizing that the seeds sown today will bear fruit in the future.

The Presidential Address by Sri Manel Annappa Nayak encouraged the council to rise to their duties with dedication and zeal, reminding them that they are the torchbearers of the college’s legacy.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contribution of each dignitary and the support of the college administration.
