Consumer Mock Trial at Besant Women’s College
Besant Women’s College (BWC), Mangalore in association with SDM Law College andPost Graduate Studies and Research in Law, Mangalore had a unique event in thehistory of non-law colleges, i.e., a full Mock Trial in Consumer Law heldrecently at BWC Auditorium.
It was a consumer case relating to deficiency of service. Prof. Udaya Kumar ofSDM Law College trained eighteen students of both SDM Law College and BesantWomen’s College for the Mock Trial. The student participants in the mock trialplayed their role very well. The effective performance of the students in themock trial is the testimony of the dedicated service of Prof. Udaya Kumar andcommitted involvement of the students.
Three senior advocates, Sri. Varadaraj A., Sri. Rajesh K. G. and Sri. KarthikUdupa of Mangalore Bar presided over the event. The President Sri. M. J.Salian, Treasurer, B.N. Jayaprakash and member Sri. Walter Mascarenhas of theD.K. District Federation of Consumer Organisation were present.
The Secretary of Women’s National Education Society Sri Shyam Sunder Kamath,Correspondent, Sri. K. Devanand Pai, Principal Dr. Sathish Kumar Shetty P.graced the occasion.
Dr. Sudha K, Staff coordinator of Consumer Club, BWC welcomed the gathering.Miss Amritha Ullal of SDM College proposed the vote of thanks.
Ms. Latha Hebbar, Staff coordinator of Consumer Club, Mr. Manjunath Kamath fromDept. of Commerce and the students of the Consumer Club contributed to thecoordination of the event. The staff and the students of Besant Women’sCollege, Students of SDM Law college and Govinda Dasa College were present andwatched the entire proceedings of mock trial.
