DSetails of the Event:

Besant Women’s College observed Constitution Day on 26th November 2024 in the college auditorium. The program began with a prologue on the importance of this day, underscoring how the Constitution, like a lighthouse, was adopted in 1949 to guide the nation’s ship through calm and storm alike.

The event's highlight was the Oath-Taking Ceremony, where all students and staff united to recite the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, symbolizing the collective voice of our democracy. Prof. Raviprabha, Head of the Department of Political Science, administered the oath, leading the gathering in echoing the powerful words of the Preamble.

Explanation of the Preamble:

The Preamble stands as the soul of the Constitution, its words carving a path like a compass pointing to the ideals of India. It declares India to be a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic, dedicated to ensuring justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.

Prof. Raviprabha unraveled the profound essence of its terms:

  • Sovereign: India, like a mountain peak, stands tall and independent, unshaken by external forces.
  • Socialist: It fosters a garden of shared prosperity, ensuring the fruits of development reach every corner.
  • Secular: The Constitution, like a rainbow, embraces all colors of faith, reflecting harmony.
  • Democratic: The nation thrives as a tree with deep roots in the people's will, spreading its branches of representation.
  • Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity: These form the four pillars of the national edifice, holding up the roof of dignity and unity.

Academic Outcomes:

Illumination of Values: Students grasped the Preamble’s essence, akin to deciphering a moral compass.

Strengthened National Spirit: The event nurtured the flame of patriotism, burning brighter in every heart.

Renewed Dedication: The oath-taking reinforced the participants’ resolve to uphold constitutional ideals, like bricks fortifying a bridge.
