Event: Wealth Out of Waste

Date: 6th November 2024

Objective:

The primary objective of the Wealth Out of Waste event was to promote environmental awareness and encourage creativity among students by turning waste materials into useful and decorative items. The event aimed to highlight the importance of recycling, sustainability, and reducing the environmental impact of waste. Through this initiative, students were given an opportunity to showcase their innovation while contributing to environmental conservation.

Academic Impact:

The event provided an excellent learning experience for the participants by integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application. It reinforced concepts related to waste management, sustainability, and creativity, which are essential in today's environmentally-conscious world. Students were able to apply their knowledge from subjects like Environmental Studies, Science, and Home Science to create practical solutions using waste materials. Additionally, the event fostered critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork, all of which are valuable skills in academic and professional settings.

The Wealth Out of Waste event was organized by the Youth Red Cross in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Besant Women's College. The program took place on 6th November 2024 at 2:30 PM in T 19.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Praveen Kumar K. C., Principal of Besant Women’s College, who delivered the opening address, emphasizing the importance of creativity and environmental sustainability. Ms. Deekshitha T. S., Program Officer of the Youth Red Cross, coordinated the event, while Ms. Sudruthi and Ms. Sana, the Secretary and a 2nd-year student, played an instrumental role in organizing the program.

The event was judged by Ms. Maya Kudva, Asst. Professor from the Department of Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics, and Mr. Uday Kumar, Office Staff, who evaluated the creativity and practicality of the projects presented.

The event successfully showcased various creative ideas where waste materials were turned into useful and decorative items, highlighting the importance of recycling and reducing environmental impact.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks, delivered by Ms. Sudruthi, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries, participants, and attendees for making the event a success.
