Visit to Transit Home: Department of Home Science
Besant women’s college had organised a visit to transit home, Bejai, Kapikad, Mangalore by the Department of Home Science on 17/05/202 Students of 1st BSc. Home science visited the transit home at Bejai, kapikad, Mangalore. Faculties from Home Science Ms. Prithvi.M and Ms. Shravya J Pambar assisted the students. This transit home was for urban education deprived children. This centre was organized by Prajna counselling centre Kankanady, Mangalore. They took care of 11 Girls aging between 7 - 11. The children were rescued from different situations like lost home due to flood, working as child labourers etc. These kids were from different cities like Puttur, Sullia and Kerala. This transit home has shelter to such children who were in difficult situation. When asked they also told that few kids had single parent. Along with fulfilling all their needs, they manage to educate these children also. As a financial support they were getting sponsors.
Our objectives to visit:
- To educate them regarding nutrition and healthy eating habits.
- To keep them engaged in fun activities.
- To know about their hardships.
