DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:
On May 2024, a group of 11 students and Ms. Kavya and Ms. Meghana are visited KONKAN POLYMER INDUSTRY in Baikampady. The objective of the industrial visit was to practical exposure to the students, allowing them to witness the various machinery and it’s processing. And gain insights into the polymer operations.
We started at 9:30am sharp from college to out destiny reached at 10:00am. The students and staffs were given brief introduction about KONKAN POLYMER INDUSTRY, its history and journey.
The students were then taken on a head of training division to explain the manufacturing, testing and plastic processing. The visit started with the different instruments like flammability tester, thermogratic analyser, HPLC etc.
Next students were shown testing laboratory, how to test the mechanical, thermal and chemical properties of plastic materials experimentally. And also demonstrated how to conduct the UTM, stiffness test and various testing operation.
This industry also showcased its effort towards sustainability and environmental responsibility. After the tour of the labs, the students had the opportunities to interact with the company’s experts and staff members. They asked insightful questions about the challenges faced in production, market trends and career opportunities in the industries.
Overall, the industrial visit was a resounding success and it is expected to have a positive impact on the academic and professional growth of the participating students. The B. Sc CHEMISTRY Department plans to organize similar industrial visit in the future to enrich students learning experience further.
