Visit to an Old Age Home: Dept. of Home Science

Besant women’s college had organized a visit to an Old Age Home by the department of Home Science on 28/07/2022 Thursday.

The students of Besant Women’s college visited Dr Giridhar Rao Sanjeevi bai Vridhashrama ( a unit of Abhaya Ashrama) aided by Women and Children’s Welfare Department( Government of Karnataka) on 28th July 2022 Thursday.

Programme started with prayer. Students prepared models of Food Guide Pyramid, Charts on Protein, Carbohydrates, Fats, and Calcium, Vitamins etc… and explained the importance of all the nutrients in our daily diet.

Students engaged the Senior Sitizens with a dance and song and also some balloons were given to them with beautiful messages. Students Contributed money and brought some eatables to the inmates of Vriddhashrama. Some social workers were also present.

Students spoke to the inmates of old age home, and shared their experiences. It was a great experience for the students.

Nearly39 people visited Vriddhashrama. Mrs. Gayathree and Ms. Swathi arranged the visit.

Mrs. Sherly Rani, Mrs. Anusha, Mrs. Akhila were also present. Mrs. Maya and Mrs Saritha helped for the arrangement of the programme.

Objectives

• To have the experience of one of facets of our society.
• To interact with Senior citizens and to understand their emotions.

Outcome:

• Students experienced old age as one facet of the society.
• Students interacted with Senior Citizens and understood their emotional feelings.
