On 8th November 2024, Besant Women’s College, in collaboration with Mangalore University’s Department of Physical Education and the IQAC, hosted the prestigious Mangalore University Inter-Collegiate Women’s Kabaddi Tournament for the Very Rev. Msgr. A. Patrao Memorial Trophy. The event, held at the college auditorium, was filled with excitement and enthusiasm as participants from various colleges gathered to compete.
Inaugural Ceremony
The event commenced at 9:30 AM with a formal inaugural ceremony. The inauguration was led by Mr. Manoj Kumar, the Mayor of Mangalore City Corporation, who emphasized the importance of sports in fostering unity and discipline among youth. Mr. Kumar took pride in Kabaddi as an indigenous sport of India, deeply rooted in the nation's culture and tradition. He highlighted that Kabaddi embodies the spirit of hard work and perseverance, urging players to apply these values not only on the field but in their personal growth and character development.
