Poster Making Competition in Connection with World Food Day: Department of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics
OBJECTIVE OF THE ACTIVITY:
● Raise awareness about World Food Day and the theme "WATER IS LIFE, WATER IS FOOD. LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND.”
● To provide students oppturnity to learn by doing , in turn strengthen the learning
● Celebrate World Food Day
● To encourage creativity and artistic thought among students.
● To build teamwork among participants.
● Inspire action towards eradicating hunger and promoting food security and importance of water.
OUTCOME OF THE ACTIVITY:
● Increased awareness among college students about the importance of leaving no one behind in terms of access to food and water.
● The programme created the platform for students to showcase their ideas on the topic
● Encouraged creative expression and artistic talent among undergraduate students through the creation of thought-provoking posters.
● The competition also built a teamwork among participants
● Inspired students to take individual and collective action within their communities to address food insecurity and promote equitable access to
nutritious food.
DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY:
The poster making competition took place on 20th October 2023at 3.30PM in the FND lecturer hall. A total of 9 teams, each consisting of 2 members, participated in the competition. The teams were undergraduate students from various disciplines and backgrounds, promoting inclusivity and diversity in addressing the topic. The teams were given a theme related to World Food Day i.e. ""WATER IS LIFE, WATER IS FOOD. LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND." Necessary art
supplies to create their posters were brought by the students. The competition was held for 1hour - 15 minutes. The posters were judged by Mrs Devika, Assistant Professor, Department of PG studies commerce and Ms.Ashwini Dept of Commerce Besant Women's College.
Results of the competition were as follows:
1st Prize: Salwa Shirin & Aysha Shafa – II B.Sc FND
2nd Prize: Suchetha &Haiqa Baji - II B.Sc FND
