Outreach Association organized activities to sensitize the students about communityserviced and social responsibility .
The department of Secretarial practice hadorganized an outreach programme – green initiative corporate socialresponsibility “ Namma Mane Namma Mara” on 21-07-2018 at Mahatma GandhiAuditorium Ullal. This programme was organized by the Department of SecretarialPractice in association with Ullal Municipal Council Karnataka Bank,Corporation Bank, Hangyo Private Limited, Rotary Club, Mangalore East Lion’sClub, Chota Mangalore, Rotary Community Corporation Kolya, Someshwara andMatraboomi Seva Prathistana Dakshina Kannada District.
In connection with the programme “Namma Mane NammaMara” a meeting wasconducted with the Environmentalist Sri. Madhav Ullal with his teamon 9-7-2018.
The Secretarial Practice Department had organizeda competition on Slogan writing (To protect Environment) to the students ofSecretarial Practice on 20-07-2018. Our College Principal Dr. Sathish Kumar Shettyselected the best caption amongI,II,III B.A. class.
The H.O.D of Secretarial Practice Prof. Hemalatha,and her colleagues Prof.Ranjini, Prof. Vidya Bhat and Prof. Shaila Kamath had planned the wholeprogramme in a systematic and disciplined way. Secretarial Practice team was ingreen colour overcoat and a cap on 21-07-2018.
The campaign was inaugurated by thepresident of Ullal Municipal Council Sri. Hussain Kunhi Monu bysymbolically watering the plant. In hisinaugural address he said that this kind of campaign will imbibe within thestudents, the responsibility towards the protection of the environment. While addressing the gatheringEnvironmentalist Sri. Madhav Ullal said that maintaining greenery around isvery essential, because greenery stops the depletion of the environment.Students planted the fruit saplings in many houses in and around Ullal CityMunicipal area and also distributed cloth bags sponsored by Big Bazaar to bringawareness on ban of plastic.
Smt. Vani V. Alva, the Commissioner ofUllal Municipal Council, Mr. K.C. Narayan, President of Lions Club - ChotaMangaluru, Mrs. Veena Bhat, Chief Manager of Corporation Bank, Kodialbail, Rtn. Jai Kumar Kolya, President of RotaryClub - Mangaluru East, Sri. YogishKumar, President of Rotary Community Corps, Kolya, Someshwara, Smt. Uma B.Hegde, President of Lions Club, Kankanady, also shared their views on the green initiative campaign.
College Correspondent Sri. K. DevanandaPai, in his presidential address said that waste management is really adifficult task. People should co-operatein this regard and also should try to keep greenery in surroundings. The Principal, Dr. Sathish Kumar Shetty P.,welcomed the gathering. The HoD of Secretarial Practice Prof. Hemalathaproposed the vote of thanks. The otherfaculty members of the department of Secretarial Practice, Prof. Vidya Bhat, Prof. Shaila Kamath werepresent. Prof. Ranjini compeered the programme. Members of Ullal MunicipalCouncil, Lions Club- Chota Mangaluru, Rotary Club - Mangaluru East andfaculty members of Besant Women’s College also joined in this noble causeof planting the saplings.
At the end Vermi compost from Vermin technologyunit of Besant Women’s College was handed to Mr. Madhav Ullal.
To conclude the programme is very useful to eachand every one to create awareness regarding protecting environment, and ozonelayer in turn to protect our motherearth.
