Orientation Seminar Data Science Career Roadmap: Department of Commerce and Business Administration & Computer Applications

An Orientation Seminar on “Data Science Career Roadmap” was organised by the Department of Commerce and Business Administration & Computer Applications in association with IQAC at Besant Women’s College, Mangaluru, on 2nd April 2025 at 2:00 PM in the auditorium.

The session was delivered by Mr. Kaushic Krishnamurthy G, an expert in Mathematics and Data Science with AI and ML. The seminar aimed at guiding students on career opportunities in the rapidly growing field of data science. The speaker provided valuable insights into the skills required, industry expectations, and various career paths such as data analyst, data scientist, and AI specialist.

Students of final and second year BCOM, BBA, and BCA actively participated in the session. The seminar was highly informative and interactive, helping students understand the importance of data-driven decision-making and emerging technologies in today’s digital world. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Shaila Kamath, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Business Administration and Mr. Yagnesh, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications.

Objectives:

  1. To create awareness about career opportunities in Data Science and related fields.
  2. To guide students on the skills and knowledge required for building a career in AI and Data Science.

Outcomes:

  1. Students gained clarity on various career paths and required competencies in Data Science.
  2. Students were motivated to enhance their technical skills in areas like AI, ML, and data analysis.
