NSS Orientation and Activity Inauguration : NSS

The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Besant Women’s College organized the NSS Orientation and Activity Inauguration on 25th September 2024, at 2:30 PM in the college auditorium. This event marked the official commencement of NSS activities for the academic year and aimed to sensitize students about the significance of social service and community development. Notably, 24th September is celebrated as NSS Day every year.

The event commenced with a warm welcome extended to all dignitaries and attendees, followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the inauguration of activities for the academic year. The NSS Secretaries, Ms. Sakshi D. Amin and Ms. Meghashree, offered a special welcome to the chief guest and other dignitaries.

In her address, Dr. Nagarathna K.A. shared valuable insights from her extensive experience with NSS, emphasizing the importance of youth actively participating in community service. She encouraged students to embrace social responsibilities through NSS activities, highlighting their crucial role in shaping their overall development.

Dr. Manjula K.T. underscored the significance of NSS in fostering a sense of civic responsibility among students. She motivated attendees to leverage the opportunities provided by the scheme to contribute positively to society.

Mrs. Seema Prabhu S. shared her experiences as an NSS Programme Officer at Canara College, recounting success stories of past NSS initiatives that made a significant impact. She urged students to focus on consistent efforts and meaningful participation in NSS activities.

The President, Dr. Praveen Kumar K.C., congratulated the NSS unit of the college for its active involvement in social service initiatives. He reaffirmed the college’s commitment to nurturing socially responsible citizens through NSS.

Felicitation of an Outstanding NSS Volunteer

The Besant NSS team, along with the college management, felicitated Ms. Thanushree for being awarded the title of Best NSS Volunteer by Mangalore University at the university level. Her dedication and exemplary service through the NSS program have set a commendable example for all students.

Ms. Raviprabha, the NSS Programme Officer, has been instrumental in coordinating various NSS activities and fostering a spirit of volunteerism among students. Her dedication, organizational skills, and passion for community service have significantly contributed to the success of the NSS unit at Besant Women’s College. Her ability to inspire and motivate students to engage in social initiatives is truly commendable.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Raviprabha, NSS Programme Officer, who expressed gratitude to the guests, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation.
