Newspaper rolling craft competition: Department of PG Studies in Food Science & Nutrition

The Department of PG Studies in Food Science & Nutrition organized a newspaper rolling craft competition for the 2nd MSc students of the Besant Women’s College, in connection with World Environment Day on the theme “Upcycle for a Greener Future” on 05th June 2024. The students were asked to upcycle the old newspapers into décor items (vases) in 1-hour time limit. The faculty in charge of the competition was Ms. Nireeksha V, Assistant professor of the MSc FSN department. A total of 18 students participated in the competitions and displayed their creative skills & improved their teamwork with their classmates along with having a chance to display their craft skills. On the completion of the program, the students were provided with the link to the feedback & e-certificates were given to the students who had successfully filled out the feedback form. The competition was judged by Ms. Swathi KS, HOD, Department of Physics, and Ms. Pavithra, Office Superintendent of Besant Women’s College, Mangalore considering aspects like color combination, neatness & overall visual impact. The first place was secured by Aysha Sifana & Balkish Zulfa & second place by Sathvi KG & Neha Rawal of 2nd MSc FSN. The results were announced on 06th June 2024.
