“Namma Mane Namma Mara” - Green Initiative Programme -2018
The Department of Secretarial Practice and OutreachCell of Besant Women’s College inassociation with Ullal Municipal Council,Karnataka Bank, Corporation Bank, Hangyo Pvt. Ltd., Rotary Club - Mangalore East,Lions - Club Chota Mangaluru, RotaryCommunity Corps, Kolya, Someshwara and Mathrubhoomi Seva Prathistana, D.K.District, organized “Namma Mane Namma Mara” – Green initiative - Corporate SocialResponsibility, on July 21, 2018 at Mahathma Gandhi auditorium, Ullal, Thecampaign was inaugurated by the president of Ullal Municipal Council Sri.Hussain Kunhi Monu by symbolically watering the plant. In his inaugural address he said that thiskind of campaign will imbibe within the students, the responsibility towardsthe protection of the environment. Whileaddressing the gathering Environmentalist Sri. Madhav Ullal said thatmaintaining greenery around is very essential, because greenery stops thedepletion of the environment. Students planted the fruit saplings in manyhouses in and around Ullal City Municipal area and also distributed cloth bagssponsored by Big Bazaar to bring awareness on ban of plastic.
Smt. Vani V. Alva, the Commissioner of Ullal MunicipalCouncil, Mr. K.C. Narayan, President of Lions Club - Chota Mangaluru, Mrs.Veena Bhat, Chief Manager of Corporation Bank, Kodialbail, Rtn. Jai Kumar Kolya, President of Rotary Club- Mangaluru East, Sri. Yogish Kumar,President of Rotary Community Corps, Kolya, Someshwara, Smt. Uma B. Hegde,President of Lions Club, Kankanady, alsoshared their views on the green initiative campaign.
College Correspondent Sri. K. Devananda Pai, in hispresidential address said that waste management is really a difficulttask. People should co-operate in thisregard and also should try to keep greenery in surroundings. The Principal, Dr. Sathish Kumar Shetty P.,welcomed the gathering. The HoD of Secretarial Practice Prof. Hemalatha proposedthe vote of thanks. The other facultymembers of the department of Secretarial Practice, Prof. Vidya Bhat, Prof. Shaila Kamath werepresent. Prof. Ranjini compeered the programme. Members of Ullal MunicipalCouncil, Lions Club- Chota Mangaluru, Rotary Club - Mangaluru East andfaculty members of Besant Women’s College also joined in this noble cause of planting the saplings. The convenor of outreach cell Prof. Gayathree was present.
