Guest Lecture on Communication Skills: Department of PG Studies in Food Science & Nutrition

The Department of PG Studies in Food Science & Nutrition organized a guest lecture on the topic “Communication is the key” on 2nd November 2023 at 1.30 pm for the 2nd MSc students by Dr. Gawtham Jyosthna, Associate Professor, Department of English, Besant Women’s College. The session started with a brief introduction of the guest speaker by Ms. Nireeksha V, Assistant Professor, MSc FSN & after which Dr. Gawtham took over the session. Dr. Gawtham in brief explained the students on the importance of communication by analyzing the situation & he illustrated the same with the example of the story “The Lion King” where he he depicted the importance of situation analysis through the scene of Mufasa’s death & co-related the fleeing of Simba & his repentance to the lack of communication due to low will power. Hence, through this illustration, Dr. Gawtham very cinematically explained the importance of communication which would give another phase to the story if Simba had communicated on his fathers death to the herd rather than running off & living his life in guilt. The students of the 2nd MSc found this session very interesting & expressed their desire to have many more sessions like these in the future too when the feedback was given to them.
