GANDHI JAYANTHI AND LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI JAYANTHI CELEBRATIONS

On 2nd October 2024, Besant Women’s College celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanthi with great enthusiasm. The program was led by Principal Dr. Praveen Kumar K.C., who was joined by the teaching staff, the NSS, Youth Red Cross, Rangers Unit, and the Student Union Council. As part of the celebrations, a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Movement) oath was administered by the Principal, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and national responsibility. Following this, floral tributes were offered to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, honoring their legacies. In his address, Dr. Praveen Kumar K.C. highlighted the Gandhian principles of non-violence, truth, and simplicity, stressing the relevance of these values in today’s world. He also spoke about the importance of cleanliness as a tribute to Gandhiji’s vision of a clean and self-sufficient India.

As a significant part of the program, students and teachers took part in a cleanliness drive. The participants were divided into three teams:

  1. One team proceeded from the college to Bhagavathi Lane.
  2. The second team covered the route from the college to the TMA Pai Convention Hall bus stop.
  3. The third team focused on the area from the college to the PVS bus stop.

This initiative reinforced the college’s commitment to cleanliness and the values propagated by Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, making the event both memorable and meaningful.

Objectives:

  • To honor the leaders and their contributions, instill their values in students, and promote a sense of national pride and civic responsibility.
  • To inspire a sense of national pride and belonging.
  • To motivate the students to contribute to the well-being of their community and nation through activities like cleanliness drives, awareness campaigns
