On 12th August 2024, Besant Women's College organized a Freshers' Orientation for the new batch of students, marking the commencement of the academic year. The event was designed to introduce the incoming students to the college environment and its community, ensuring a smooth transition into their academic journey.

The event commenced with an address by the Principal Dr. Praveen. K. C, who welcomed the new students with warmth and encouragement. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of adhering to the college's rules and regulations, which are foundational to maintaining a disciplined and conducive learning environment.

Following the Principal's address, the Dean of Languages- Ms. Preetha, the Dean of Computer Applications-Mr. Gopalkrishna Raikar and Dean of Science -Ms. Gayathree shared their insights and expectations with the students. They spoke about the academic programs, departmental activities, and the support available to students for their intellectual and personal growth.

Ms. Ranjini, the Student Welfare Officer, provided essential guidance on the various support services available at the college. She emphasized the college’s dedication to student well-being, offering insights into counseling services, extracurricular activities, and other resources that contribute to a well-rounded student experience. An oath was administered on Nasha Mukth Bhartha to know the importance of eradicating drug abuse.

Faculty members from various departments introduced themselves to the first-year students. This initiative allowed the students to familiarize themselves with the teaching staff and understand the support network available to them throughout their academic journey.

Objectives:

  • To help them adapt to their new academic environment, connect with peers, and learn about the institution's resources and policies
  • To familiarise with the campus, its facilities, and the institution's culture.

Outcomes:

  • Students will be able to familiarize with the college environment, rules and regulations and their classmates
  • Students will gain a sense of familiarity and comfort with the college, its values, and expectations.
