Cancer awareness Programme: Youth Red Cross

Indian red cross society Dakshina Kannada organised a programme. On world cancer day on 4-02-2024, programme was about cancer awareness were youth red cross association of Besant women’s college actively participated in the program. The event was held to educate the public and raise awareness about various type of cancer. The youth red cress association of Besant women’s college actively participated to the program, demonstrating their commitment to community health & welfare, the program consisted of four detailed session each addressing a specific type of cancer session 1 – Breast cancer led by Dr Jessy Maria Dsouza MBBS ACID, an obstetrician, gynaecologist, Infertility specialist and assistant professor, Session 2 – Gynecological & cervical cancer sessions 3: Lung cancer Dr Alka c Bhat kavitha who discussed about oral cancer.

Objectives

• The primary objective of the program was to provide comprehensive education on the various type of cancer, their risk factors, symptom and preventive measures, by informing the community about the importance of regular screening.

Outcome

• Gained valuable knowledge about different types of cancer, their risk factors, symptom and the Importance of early detection.
