Bridge Course on Computer Literacy: Department of Commerce and Business Administration.

A bridge course on computer literacy is organized by the Department of Commerce and Business Administration. Final year B.Com students keen on enhancing their computer skills are being offered sessions on Excel, Advanced Excel, and Tally, instructed by Sheetal Nayak, an alumna of Besant Women’s College. The computer literacy bridge course for final-year B.Com students commenced on November 6th, 2023. These classes take place in the Commerce and Business Administration lab and are split into two batches, held from Monday to Saturday after regular classes. The first batch runs on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, while the second batch meets on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.Timings are from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM on weekdays and 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM on Saturdays.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Understanding of Excel's basic and advanced features, including data analysis, complex formulas, pivot tables, macros, and automation, geared towards financial and business data management.
  • In-depth knowledge of Tally Prime, covering ledger management, inventory control, financial statements, taxation, and other relevant accounting functions used in business operations.
  • Educating students on conducting audits using Excel and Tally Prime to ensure financial compliance, and understanding how GST affects financial reporting and compliance for businesses.

  • Proficiency in utilizing Excel for complex data analysis, financial modeling, and automation, essential for various roles in finance, accounting, and business analytics.
  • Mastery in using Tally Prime for maintaining accounts, generating financial reports, inventory management, and complying with taxation regulations, making students industry-ready.
