Anti-Ragging and Drug Abuse Awareness Programme: Anti-Ragging Cell
The Anti-Ragging and Drug Abuse Awareness Program was organized by the Anti-Ragging Cell of Besant Women’s College in collaboration with the IQAC, with the aim of spreading awareness about the serious issues of ragging and substance abuse, and promoting a culture of safety, respect, and responsibility among students.
The program was efficiently hosted by Ms. Sana, who served as the Master of Ceremony. The event began with a soulful invocation song led by Chaitra and team, followed by a welcome address delivered by Ms. Mariyam Jamal, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, staff, and students present.
A floral welcome was extended to the guests by Ms. Devika, Member of the Anti-Ragging Cell.
In her address, Ms. Jyoti M. G. highlighted that ragging and drug-related issues can occur in any environment — be it colleges, workplaces, or public spaces. She informed the audience about the Anti-Ragging Helpline and emphasized the legal actions taken against such offenses. Her examples and insights encouraged students to stay vigilant and aware.
Mr. Joel Joseph further elaborated on the topic, giving detailed information about the impact of ragging and drug abuse on individuals and society. He emphasized the importance of awareness and prevention through education.
Professor Rajashekar Hebbar and Dr. Praveen Kumar K. C. also shared their valuable thoughts on the subject, speaking about how such practices can harm one’s growth and how building empathy and discipline is crucial for a healthy campus environment.
As a token of appreciation, mementos were presented to Ms Jyothi M.G, Mr. Joel Joseph, and Professor Rajashekar Hebbar.
The session concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Aishwarya, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries, staff, and participants for making the program a success.
Following this, students from the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru, presented a performance on the theme of Anti-Ragging and Drug Abuse, powerfully depicting its impact on individuals and society.
The event concluded with an interactive counseling session, during which students asked questions and shared their views on the topic. The program was both informative and thought-provoking, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present and reinforcing the message of standing against ragging and drug abuse.
