Academic Excellence Award: Dept. of SP
The Department of Secretarial Practice held its one of the prestigious programme, “Academic Excellence Award” function on February 21, 2022.
The Chief Guest of the function Dr. Sharath Kumar Shetty was accompanied by Dr. Manjula K T, Correspondent, BWC and Dr. Sathish Kumar Shetty P, Principal of BWC to the stage.
The MC of the event was Ms. Fathima Reem. A short prayer was offered by Ms. Shaila Kamath to invoke the blessings of the GOD for the success of the programme.
The guests were introduced to the audience by Prof. Hemalatha, HoD – Secretarial Practice.
Prof. Ranjini, Assistant Professor, Secretarial Practice introduced the Rank holder “Khatija Anath Salnaz”. She procured the 5th rank by scoring 88%, with a total of 291 out of 300, in her University exam held during 2021 for the Secretarial Practice subject, thus making her the highest scorer in the class. For this achievement of hers, she was honored on this occasion.
Ms. Ranjini also read out the list of all the high scorers. Mrs. Shaila Kamath read out the names of the winners of MC competition which was held earlier.
Khatija Anath Salnaz shared her experience of the hard work put in by her to procure this rank. She thanked the lecturers for tuning her to complete her graduation with a Rank from the University. She said, “Getting a rank was not as easy as a pie. Plenty of sacrifices had to be done and needed constant hard work. Referring the notes, spending time in the library getting more points for a particular topic etc. were regular routines. The teachers never overlooked my needs. Would never have got a rank if it was not for the continious backing up of the lectures specially Prof. Hemalatha and Prof. Ranjini. I am thankful to them for making me achieve this feat. All my classes were interesting and filled with enthusiasm. I would like to advise my friends that if you make up your mind to work hard, you can get a rank. Please follow the instructions of your teachers religiously and listen to them in their classes. They deliver hidden gems during their lectures which may be missed if you are not attentive”. She concluded her talk by wishing best of luck to the juniors.
Ms. Shaila S. Shet, a student of Secretarial Practice from the 2017 Batch, also, a Fifth Rank holder of Mangalore University Exam, used this occasion to share her reminisces.
Dr. Manjula K,T presented a consolation award to the top scorers of First year who secured highest in the Internal exams. She shared her memories of a college days with the audience. She was all praise for the departments‘ activities.
The chief guest and the Principal also addressed the gathering and boosted the morale of the students who have secured the highest marks. They also encouraged the students who were not placed in the high score bracket to work a little harder and get the desired scores in their next exam.
