Department of Home Science had conducted a fest recently (5th January 2019) in the Home Science Department titled “HOME FEST”. Home Fest was inaugurated by Shri K. Devanand Pai Secretary WNES, Sri. Ganesh Krishna Bhat – Member WNES and Dr. Sathish Kumar Shetty Principal, Besant women’s college, Mangalore by lighting the lamp. Dr. Manjula K.T. member WNES, Sri. Sathish Bhat Correspondent, Besant English School, had graced the occasion. It was organized under the guidance of Prof. Asha Rai, HOD, Dept. of Home Science. Different games were conducted by the students for the college students, lecturers and administrative staff members. Students had exhibited the articles prepared by them. They showcased fashion designing techniques by using Mannequins, Pot painting, glass painting, clay modeling, doll making were the main attraction of the exhibition. They gave awareness on classification of nutrients by exhibiting nutritionally rich food. Guests, staff and students enjoyed the fest immensely. Delicious food prepared by the students of Home Science Department was served which was appreciated by one and all.
K. Maya Kudva secured 2nd rank in FND (Food, Nutrition & Dietetics) degree examination held during May 2018.
NSS annual camp was held from 8th December 2018 to 14th December 2018 at D.K.Z.P. Higher Primary School, Kodman, Bantwal Taluk.

Shri. Mithun Bhat Kakunje, Director Kakunje Group of Companies, Mangalore, in his keynote address elaborated upon the importance of conceiving an idea, incubating it and hatching a new project which is workable and striving for its success. He said, the comfort zones when reached cause stagnancy in business. Hence, they must be broken to achieve new heights. Doing something which the heart likes is the surest way to achieve success and happiness he added.
Shri Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy, President W.N.E.S in his presidential speech said, an entrepreneur leads and directs his team, builds their capacity and inspires the subordinates, turns various resources into usable products and possibilities, creates comfortable life for himself and the society. An entrepreneur sets objectives for oneself and materialises it, besides supporting the people around and whole of the country, he called the participants of the conference to make full use of the sessions and develop into ideal entrepreneurs of tomorrow. Prof. Anupa Baliga, convenor of the conference briefed on theme of the seminar. Shri K. Devananda Pai, Secretary of W.N.E.S. and Correspondent of Besant Women’s College and Dr. Praveen Kumar K.C. Dean, Dept. of Commerce and IQAC head wished well for the programme. Dr. Sathish Kumar Shetty P., Principal of the College welcomed. Students Ms. Surabhi thanked and Ms. Anusha Prabhu compeered.
The first session ‘Technical sessions on Entrepreneurial norms and skills for youth’ was addressed by Sri. Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, M.D., Kumble Solar Energy Private Ltd., and the second ‘Youth entrepreneurship : Opportunities and challenges’ was addressed by Mrs. Rithu Chabria Shah, Co-Founder, Maniac Unisex Clothing - Manipal and Dehradun. 77 papers were presented by the delegates on the sub topic related to the subject of the conference.
Department of Kannada organized a talk on “Mobile banking” for students of 1st B.Com on 16th October 2018. Dr. Praveen Kumar K.C, HoD of Commerce and Management was the resource person.
