Demonstration of herbal plants and Talk on domiciliary treatment for minor ailments: Environment Club

Environment club of Besant Women's College organised a demonstration of herbal plants and talk on domiciliary treatment for minor ailments on 16th March 2019 at11.30 am in G5 ground floor. Mr Dinesh Nayak, President, Sasyashyamala,Vittal was the Resource person. He showed how to treat diabetes and control sugar level through herbal method. He suggested herbal remedies for cough, cold, fever, indigestion etc. The programme was attended by Sri Nagar Narayan Shenoy, Besant evening college correspondent, Sri Ganesh and Mr Jagadeesh were the other guests .Principal gave a floral welcome to the guests .Mr Dinesh Nayak after the lecture gifted an Ashoka sapling for planting in the garden. The programme was well attended by staff and students.

Talk on 'Marriage, love and relationships': Dept of Sociology

Department of Sociology organised a talk on 'Marriage ,love and relationships ' on 15th March 2019 at 9.30 am in Audio visual room. Professor Asha Lobo Department of MSW HRM, School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya,Mangalore was the Resource Person. Dr Satish Kumar Shetty, Principal welcomed the gathering. Talk on “Social skills for researchers – HIV positive patients - issues and concerns”: R&D Cell

Research and Development Department of Besant Women’s College organized a talk on “Social skills for researchers – HIV positive patients - issues and concerns” by Smt. Devika Shetty, Counsellor, Prajna Counseling Centre, Mangalore on 13th March 2019 in the college premises.  Resource person analyzed the various problems and concerns related to HIV positive patients through her experiential learning process. She enumerated number of cases and explained how the students in the age group of 12 to 30 years are vulnerable to the disease due to unsecured sexual relationship. She cautioned the students to have sexual education and awareness to eradicate the problems.  She also answered the student queries meticulously and explained how the social skills should be imbibed and inculcated by the students by interacting with the marginalized and disadvantage section of the society, quoting her own experience with tribals and HIV positive patients.

The principal Dr. Sathish Kumar Shetty P., as a guest of honour, H.O.D. of Kannada Department Dr. Meenakshi, H.O.D. of Sociology department Prof. Shirly Rani were present.
