SIX DAY INTERNATIONAL LEVEL FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME ON PERSPECTIVES AND STRATEGIES ON CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS

TheFaculty Development Programme is about transferring a current status thatfocuses on increasing the managerial qualities of the faculty members. Duringthis Covid 19 pandemic, the entire process of our mind and body is disturbed.To overcome this, self-monitor, and maintain a healthy diet is essential. It isnecessary to bring awareness of present issues relating to innovation, futuretrends, and challenges in Physical Education and Sports. The Internal QualityAssurance Cell and Department of Physical Education and Sports, Besant Women’sCollege, Mangaluru, inassociation with Physical Education Foundation of India(PEFI), Karnataka Chapter, Recognised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs andSports organised a Six Day International Level Faculty Development Programme onPerspectives and Strategies on Contemporary Issues in Physical Education andSports.

Ms. Shaila Kamath, Assistant Professor, Department ofSecretarial Practice, began the Day 1 session of Six Day FDP by invoking theblessings of the Almighty. Welcomeaddress by, Dr. Sathish Kumar Shetty P, Principal, Besant Women’s College, Mangalore, Opening remarks by, Shri. K Devanand Pai, Secretary of Women’s National Education Society(WNES), and Correspondent of Besant Women’sCollege, Best Wishes from, Sri.Srikanth R, Secretary, Physical Education Foundation of India(PEFI), KarnatakaChapter.

FDP Session Topics and ResourcePersons

1.           Day-1: Contemporary issues and upcoming challenges in PhysicalEducation, by Dr. Kishore Kumar C K, Director of Physical Education, MangaloreUniversity, Mangalore. He was introduced by Prof. S Syed Khadar, IQACCo-ordinator and Vote of Thanks was proposed by Ms. Roopathi M, PhysicalEducation Director.

2.           Day-2: Home remedies and practices during Covid-19 pandemic by Dr.S M Prakash, Director of Physical Education, Kuvempu University, Shivmoga. Ms. Shaila Kamath, Assistant Professor,Department of Secretarial Practice, began the Day 2 session  of Six Day FDP by invoking the blessings ofthe Almighty. He was introduced by Dr. Praveen Kumar K C, HOD & AssistantProfessor in Commerce and Management and Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr.Girish Kumar, Assistant Professor in English .

3.           Day -3: Psycho-physiological issues during and post Covid-19 byDr. Sunder Raj Urs, Former Principal of UCPE,  Dean, Faculty of Education,Bangalore University and Former Registrar (Ev), Bengaluru North University. Ms. Shaila Kamath, Assistant Professor,Department of Secretarial Practice, began the Day 3 session of Six Day FDP byinvoking the blessings of the Almighty. He was introduced by Ms. Usha Kumari M,HOD & Associate Professor in Economics and Vote of Thanks was proposed byMs. Deekshitha T S, Assistant Professor in Commerce & Management.

4.           Day-4 :Meditation and pranayama for healthy life by Dr. K V Shenoy, Teacher, Art of LivingInternational and Former Director & Professor of Physical Education,Mangalore University. Ms. Shaila Kamath,Assistant Professor, Department of Secretarial Practice, began the Day 4session of Six Day FDP by invoking the blessings of the Almighty. He wasintroduced by Ms. Ravi Prabha, Assistant Professor in Political Science andVote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. Lokaraj V S, Librarian.

5.           Blending information and communication technology in PhysicalEducation by Dr. Gajanana Prabhu B,Assistant Professor, Department of Physical Education, Kuvempu University,Shivmoga. Ms. Shaila Kamath, AssistantProfessor, Department of Secretarial Practice, began the Day 5 session of SixDay FDP by invoking the blessings of the Almighty. He was introduced by Ms.Meera Edna Coelho, Associate Professor in English and Vote of Thanks wasproposed by Mr. Arun Kumar, Assistant Professor in Political Science.

6.           Yoga for stress management by Mr.BAILBASAPPA B KABBERAHALLI, Yoga Instructor, Nowfit Yoga & FitnessCenter, Hoo Chin Minh City. Prof. S Syed Khadar began the Day 6 session of SixDay FDP by invoking the blessings of the Almighty and introduced the ResourcePerson, and Principal Gave the highlights of all the session. Sri. Srikanth R,Secretary of PEFI enlightened on the concrete idea on how the FacultyDevelopment Programme has been organised. Finally, Ms. Roopathi M, Organising Secretary,Proposed the vote of thanks.

The platform for the Six Day International Level FDPSessions was through ZOOM Meeting App as well as YouTube Livestreaming. Anaverage of 1000 participants actively participated in the Six Day InternationalLevel Faculty Development Programme.
